I REALLY love the Helson Blackbeard watches. (pic via aBlogToRead)
And one of my all-time grail watches, a vintage Eterna Super Kon-Tiki! The Citizen Eco-Drive Satellite Wave is not to be missed. And this new Omega Seamaster Chrono? Want.
Finally, this new 4R37 Seiko Superior – SSA003K may be the next watch I buy, if I can find one. I’ve been wanting a reasonably-priced automatic Seiko with a GMT complication for a long time. I just REALLY wish it was independently adjustable.
And there’s a new rubber dive strap available. More here.
Helson Blackbeard Watch Review: Done in the style of the vintage Blancpain Fifty Fathoms (the bezel especially), the Blackbeard is thoroughly modern in execution: ETA 2824 movement, water resistant to 500m, domed sapphire crystal with double inner anti-reflective coating, lumed acrylic bezel, and the piece de resistance, a SuperLuminova BGW9 dial with hands-down coolest lume dial ever …
The Citizen Eco-Drive Satellite Wave: No question, this watch looks different. The design themes revolve around the future, space, and spacecraft. According to Citizen, the
roundness of the case evokes that of a planet, the ceramic materials represent resistance to the elements in space and the dial/handset displays themes of both rocket propulsion systems and the continuous orbits of satellites in space.
The Halios Puck: A Worthy Contender For The Title of “Watch You’d Want To Wear In A Bar Fight”: The Puck is a seriously tooly looking watch, owing a stylistic nod to a particularly badass Seiko diver – commonly referred to as ‘The Tuna’ (short for Tuna Can – geddit?). The big 47 mm, that sits 15mm high is going to make a statement – the fact that the case is so monolithic, with no lugs and a to-the-edge bezel means this will be an absolute beast to wear and we suspect not for the faint of heart or dainty of wrist.
4R37 Seiko Superior – SSA003K – Yeoman’s Watch Review: This variant of the 4R movement is characterized by a 24 hour indicator hand located in a sub-dial at the 11 or 12 o’clock position depending on the location of the crown. This hand cannot be set independently. It can however tell you whether you are in AM or PM time when your are setting the time.
Ochs und Junior Selene – the most accurate moon phase in a wristwatch! – Monochrome Watches: Ochs und Junior just released the most accurate moon phase in a wrist watch ever created. And their moon phase complication comprises of only 5 (yes, five) parts! The new Ochs und Junior Selene Tinta is amazing…
Shopping Breitling’s NYC Outpost – A Continuous Lean.: A few weeks back I got an invite to meet the new Breitling USA President, Thierry Prissert at the watchmaker’s new boutique on 57th Street. Me being someone with a fairly shallow knowledge of Breitling, it seemed like a good opportunity to learn about a very historic brand straight from the head of the company.
Haute Horology: TAG Heuer Pendulum and Mikrotimer Update – Calibre 11: Coming up with cool concepts is one thing, but TAG Heuer have a good record at turning these ideas into production watches, such as they did with the Monaco V4 and the Carrera Calibre 360. So, when will we see production watches using the Pendulum and Mikrotimer movements?
Chopard Jacky Ickx Chronograph (Edition V) – Perpetuelle.com Watch Blog: Just before the Singapore Formula 1 night race, Chopard unveiled the latest in its ongoing series of Chopard Jacky Ickx Chronograph watches, the the Jacky Ickx “Edition V”. This classic racing watch is limited to 2000 pieces in stainless steel case and 500 in rose gold, and now features 24 hour (instead of 12) and 60 minute (instead of 30) counters.
The Girard-Perregaux Opera Series: Several years ago, (and probably in development long, long before that) – Girard-Perregaux released a series of watches called the Operas. As the name suggests, all boasted musical complications. They were available – and I believe some still are – with various dials and case materials.
